Who We Are
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement (GASE), launched on November 2018, plays a critical role in facilitating global partnerships across diverse institutions of global scientific research.
GASE is a joint initiative by MOST and National Taiwan University (NTU). Designed as a university-centered structure with 15 university members on the Steering Committee, the goal of GASE is to elevate Taiwan's engagement with international research community while nurture and empower local researchers.
For the second phase, the operation of MOST GASE will be based on the consultation from its inter-institutional, inter-disciplinary, and inter-sectional expert network. As a mandate office of MOST, GASE will continue to leverage its internal and external resources to promote Taiwan’s R&d brand, and become a platform for international science and technology engagement and exchange. While linking and forming alliances with higher education and research institutions worldwide as one ecosystem, GASE thrives to build effective partnerships and initiate industrial collaboration and social innovation to create synergy and long-lasting impact.
Moreover, as an inter-sectional platform, GASE will carry out its mission based on “5+2 Industrial Innovation Plan” and the “DIGI+ program: Digital Nation and Innovative Economic Development Program” to promote the inter-disciplinary development of the Six Core Strategic Industries - Biotechnology and Health-care, Digital Transformation, Cyber Security, Semiconductor Program, 5G and 6G networks, and improving Internet connections among public and private sectors. The three working areas for the second phase of GASE’s operation will focus on “international branding and communication”, “global talent empowerment” and “international outreach and coalition building”.
